Failing Mini box

For several months one of our mini boxes has failed to turn on 80% of the time. We have to physically disconnect it in order to get it to restart and connect to the SkyQ box and internet. It otherwise just sits there in standby ignoring the remotes instructions.

Now, for the last week, it has been glitching even after a restart, to the extent that it is unwatchable. It constantly freezes for anywhere between a second or a minute and then plays for only 3-10 seconds before doing it again.

What is very puzzling is that we can watch Netflix, Disney, Amazon perfectly through it. But Sky's own services through it are terrible.

We have tried the usually prescribed reboot of the main box, then reboot of the mini dish, several times, with no success. I have tried the reset button on the back of the mini box. I have tried reinserting the viewing card.

None of these remedies works. And given the box's reluctance to even start 80% of the time I have to conclude a genuine fault exists and that a replacement box is needed.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi @Smuttles1963

Suggest that you swap it over with one of the other minis just to check that it is not the position that is the issue.

Re: Failing Mini box

I will try that, but would observe that this miscreant box is much nearer to both the Q box and the internet router than the others. And there are only plasterboard walls between them.
