Re: Failed remote network problem
Good job I've got no hair or Is have pulled it all out...
I've connected the Cisco router via a LAN cable to my pc and also later to an access point thinking so could get to its settings that way, but I can't get the routers GUI to appear
Tinterweb tells me the default IP address (removed)
No joy with that. I've red elsewhere (removed) no joy with that
I've downloaded putty, but if that can't connect to the router then we can't even start the process!
Any ideas...have also tried the wan port...
(removed) happens to be the IP of my main router, so I've variously turned that off...still no joy...
Snookered! Again!

Re: Failed remote network problem
Having resolved some tech issues, I'm in the routers console and have a prompt....
Router<
Any ideas how to progress from here?
I think we are in Mark / Chodley territory here...

Re: Failed remote network problem
Issue the commands that Mark provided way earlier in the thread. I'm not a cisco expert at all 😄

Re: Failed remote network problem
I'm stuck at the router prompt and the commands just give errors. Not that I'm going to be giving up...
I'd have thought that I'd be able to access a GUI via an IP address on the network, but apparently that's not a thing, so I'm stuck with this console command prompt that's reminding me of Zx basic. Only not as advanced!

Re: Failed remote network problem
I might add, even if I got the commands in to the Cisco router, because I can't make it visible on my network, I don't know what it's IP address is, so can't put that in the Sky box for the DNS setting
Repeatedly snookered at every turn!
Meanwhile, despite Sky saying they are in contact with Kloud9, no such contact has been made...

Re: Failed remote network problem
It likely has a command to list its network interfaces and what IPs etc they have configured. Might need telling to use dhcp. Might also need telling to just bridge and not act as a router with separate networks/subnets on the upstream and downstream side.

Re: Failed remote network problem
Ok..so I had it plugged in to my network...via lan...
But it also has a WAN port that I've now plugged in directly to my Kloud9 router...
That's kicked Putty in to action which has now recognised the router and assigned it and IP address, albeit I still can't access that via typing in to a web browser...that may not be a thing for a router older than I am. But I'm processing on the basis that if I know the address I can put it in to the Sky box...
Just gotta get it to accept these settings...
The joys...

Re: Failed remote network problem
You won't be able to access its upstream IP address from the downstream side. It should though, allocate you an IP and default gateway (that is its address which should work in a browser) as long as its own DHCP service is running.

Re: Failed remote network problem
My tech challenges continue..my posts disappear as fast as I post them. It seems Sky don't want this resolved

Re: Failed remote network problem
Barring another catastrophe I'm done!
Efforts to inject hardware into the solution failed, so I turned to the dark arts and now have a working Sky box
In terms of the solution, it was free and it's 100% effective. The solution is out there, but can't be posted here
Apparently both Sky and Kloud9 are still working on a solution. Make of that what you will
6 years and counting..
I'll.keep.an eye out here to see what develops...what a farce.

Re: Failed remote network problem
Good for you.
Super frustrating to not have anyone from Sky acknowledge the problem here.
with no clear response from them I'm going to start the cancellation process.
If anyone comes across this thread on the future the TL;DR is Sky does not support smaller ISPs and seems to have no intention of doing so even when made aware of the problem

Re: Failed remote network problem
Just keeping this thread to the fore, in the event of developments.
I know there are a few people pending the notice period of their cancellation finishing shortly (including me)
If there's any news, Sky might keep some customers....

Re: Failed remote network problem
I've been experimenting with running a DNS server on a Raspberry Pi along with a load of other things and I have now officially given up. Even with the DNS rewrite supposedly in place, I'm still getting failures and have come to the conclusion that this isn't something I have time or the mental capacity for anymore. Also emailed my ISP for the sake of it, they of course stated that this has nothing to do with them.
I'm still waiting for a response from Sky, who are 'looking into' the problem but it's clear from everything here that it won't be fixed. I'm disabled with communication difficulties, can't talk on the phone and I fear that I won't have the strength or health to battle my way out of the contract terms, so will I now be resigned to paying £65 a month for the next two years for a service that doesn't work? I guess so.
Thanks to everyone who has been helping out with this.

Re: Failed remote network problem
Has anyone had any movement on this? Sky said that I'm the first to report this issue and that they basically haven't had any similar reports, yet several people in this thread have been in touch with them regarding these problems. And has anyone had success cancelling within contract? I can't face trying to explain this entire situation to customer services in order for them to let me out of my contract early, but as things stand I cannot access the services they're supposed to be providing me. Thanks.
