Essential package and Q

Hi i have Sky Q and the essential package. Today I leant that the essential package had changed to include SD channels in excess of my freeview package . But i have Sky Q and dont have access to SD channels. Seems that I stay on the £15 freeview package and that I cannot get the increased channels even though I have access to SKY through my internet

I think you're looking at (the confusingly named) Essential TV package which isn't the same as Essentials on Q.  The Q package is essentially freeview with recording facility.

The Essential TV package is for streaming platforms only.  (And the advertised £15 is for new customers only)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

As @PandJ2020 indicates, Television Essentials on Sky Q is absolutely not the same as Essential TV on Sky Stream, but numerous online sources including AI search results seriously confuse the two.

Essential TV is Sky Atlantic, the free to air channels with Netflix Standard with Adverts and Discovery+ Basic, delivered online to a Stream puck.

Television Essentials is the free to air broadcast channels received through a dish to a Sky Q box, plus recording and playback.

Re: Essential package and Q

Does not surprise me. I get charged 15 pound for freeview and no need to record these days as functionality means you can recall. I am pleased that since I changed my internet provider sky have removed my home phone number and 15 pound is quite a stretch for basically freeview.  Big business needs profits and fully understandable that give the long time Sky customer as little channels as possible . Over 20 years and that's life
