Error code MR102

My Sky mini continuously drops off from my Sky Q. I've rebooted everything multiple times, it'll work for a short while until I reboot everything again. Now when it does connect the sound and picture glitches constantly.
I'm paying handsomely for a product that falls well short for what I'm paying for!
does anyone have any suggestion other than cancelling my subscription and taking up tiddlywinks!

Hi @Rolling

try a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset starts the mini WPS automatically)

If you are on Sky Broadband and the Router is nearer to the mini than the main box then you can try pressing WPS on the router instead of the main Q box.

If the issue continues you may need a Q WiFi booster positioned mid

way between the mini and the main Q box.

Re: Error code MR102

Hi @oldfella

@I have done this numerous times.
the Sky mini was working well bar the 10 to 14 day regular reset, until earlier this week when we started to redecorate our kitchen. Now the mini cannot remain connected to the SkyQ. Nothing has been moved or replaced other than a thin layer of paint!
would an Ethernet connection solve connectivity?

Hi @Rolling

Ethernet connection is always the way to go if possible.

If you are on Sky Broadband you can connect the mini by Ethernet to the Q box or the Sky router.   If on 3rd party broadband then you can only use the main Q box.

@oldfella

My broadband isn't with Sky.
nearly all my network is linked via Ethernet with three wireless access points around our house. My first mini works well connected via Ethernet, the second doesn't like wireless connectivity, going to have to busy with Ethernet.
Out of interest, is Sky Glass better than SkyQ?

Hi @Rolling

When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi.

Start with main Q box and first carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.
Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router . Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects go into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Repeat the network reset on any minis in the Mini Home menu with the Ethernet connected. Again do not do any WPS and just wait for it to connect.
Once it is connected go into the mini hidden menu (same procedure as above) and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

Regarding Sky Glass.

Personal opinion - not for me  as I want the recording facility of Q.
