Error Message Resolution not Supported

Since I've upgraded to sky q I'm getting this error message

I've changed the HDMI UHD Color to on and reduced the sky to 720 and still no luck. Any advice to resolve?

it resets the SKY box to the default 1080i that most TVs should be able to process.

Re: Error Message Resolution not Supported

It's reset to the 1080i ok, but the error is still occurring, do I need to drop it to 720?

hi @garns

I am not fully sure I understand  where/when you are getting the message

As you mention deep color I am guessing it is a 4K TV (Samsung ?) - pehaps you can give us make & model .

Any modern TV should be able to handle 1080i - this standard wil normally drop if needed but any HD/UHD is not likelly to need to drop.

Are you connecting directly to the TV r is it going through any other equipment ?

Have you tried a different HDMI port on the TV ?

Re: Error Message Resolution not Supported

I'm getting this message on the Samsung screen before even being able to access sky

Model code UE55KU6000

I'm connecting directly to the tv and have tried multiple HDMI ports

Thnaks @garns

Have you tried a different HDMI cable ?

I presume the Q box has a green light OK ?

BTW the reason I asked about where / when you are getting the message is that if you don't get any screen on SKY Q how would be able to change the resolution to 720 ?

Re: Error Message Resolution not Supported

Yes, tried a different cable - no luck

Yes, it has a green light

If I turn it off at the plug it will work

If I then turn on/off on the remote it will no longer work

Ah so If I understand you correctly, initially it works after a power down restart but subsequently fails when placing in standby  ?

If so this is a differen t oproblem to what I was thinking  & would seem to be a handshake problem - will have a think but others may know better

Not sure this will help but possibly worth checking/trying

On SKY go to

Home - Settings - Audio Visual & make sure HDMI Control is set to ON

On your TV check the settings for the HDMI connect to to make sure that it's HDMI is on - it may also be called CEC control or something similar (I think Sony is Bravia Sync & Panasonic Viera Link)

no (that is relevant for the 2160 10 bit setting though)

There should be a 'control' or 'link' setting which may be a general setting rather than on each HDMI
