Dying Ethernet socket on 2TB box?

So,  I've been trying to work out why my wifi in the house is so poor and as a side effect I've realised that,  when connected via Ethernet,  all 3 of my Mini's temporarily lose contact with the Main box,  every few minutes,  for about 5-10 seconds at a time.  they all do it in synchrony.

I've isolated each box and using a long lead connected them directly to the router.  I've replaced the cable between the 2TB and the router.

None of this has any effect,  it still intermitently loses contact.

I've  reset all settings on the 2TB, ensured its in Ethernet mode.

Has anyone come across a 2TB box failing in the way?  It's 8 1/2 years old.

Thanks.

Mike

Hi @LeoBlack30

First thing to try is a Reset Settings in the main Q box hidden menu.
To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select..
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.

Hi @LeoBlack30

Who is your broadband supplier and exactly how is each Q box normally connected?

Re: Dying Ethernet socket on 2TB box?

Just to update.  During my efforts to get this working,  the main box decided to brick itself.  Huge Kudos to Sky for having a replacement box on my doorstep before 9am this morning,  depsite me only "ordering" Saturday even.  Esspecially given the recent weather.

New box is aslo HDR which is a nice bonus.
