Don't want a Netflix account

I am upgrading from Sky HD+ to Sky Q with the Ultimate TV add-on. It comes with Netflix standard which is £9.99 a month.

I do not have a Netflix account and don't want one.

The email I had from Sky confirming the order says:

"We will share the preferred email address registered to your Sky account with Netflix International B.V. in order for Netflix to provide you with your services. "

Does this mean that Sky will start billing me £9.99 a month, even if I don't have a Netflix account and never set one up?

Hi @Chodley

@jan27299

The Netflix basic plan now has HD as standard.

Assuming you subscribe through Sky
Sky Ultimate TV includes the Netflix Basic plan (1 screen + HD)
You can upgrade to Netflix Standard (2 screens + HD) by adding the HD pack On Sky Q.
You can upgrade to Netflix Premium (4 screens + UHD/HDR) by adding the Ultra HD pack (requires the HD pack first) on Sky Q.

Not if it's included in Ultimate. You're already paying for it.

Re: Don't want a Netflix account

The email from Sky is ambiguous, it doesn't say that Netflix is included, it lists the prices for the various Netflix subscriptions separately:

"You need a Sky Signature subscription, Sky Q box and an active broadband service for the Ultimate TV Add on pack

Taking the Netflix pack with;
• Sky Signature entitles you to the Netflix Basic plan (watch Netflix in SD and 1 screen at a time)
• Sky Signature and Sky HD entitles you to the Netflix Standard plan (watch Netflix on 2 screens at the same time, and access Netflix in HD. Please note that in order to watch in HD on Sky Q you'll need an HD compatible TV)
• Sky Signature, Sky HD and Sky Ultra HD entitles you to the Netflix Premium plan. (watch Netflix on 4 screens at the same time, and access Netflix in Ultra HD. Please note that in order to watch in Ultra HD on Sky Q you'll need a UHD capable Sky Q box and a UHD compatible TV. Ultra HD viewing is not available in Sky Q mini’s)

Sky will bill you for the Ultimate TV Add on pack from the date it’s activated with Sky. If you already have a Netflix account, you have the option to link it to your Ultimate TV Add on pack from Sky, once it has been activated. Netflix will continue to charge you separately until you link that account. For any queries regarding your billing with Netflix prior to the activation of your Ultimate TV Add on pack from Sky please contact Netflix.

You can access your Netflix account via the Sky Q box or via the Netflix app on 3rd party devices.

The RRP of the Netflix Basic Plan is £5.99, Netflix Standard Plan is £9.99 and the Netflix Premium Plan is £11.99...."

So as you can see, it says that it "entitles" me to Netflix but isn't clear that this is included.

Hi @jan27299

In the first paragraph

an active broadband service for the Ultimate TV Add on pack.

The Ultimate TV pack is Netflix.

Re: Don't want a Netflix account

Can I remove the Netflix element if I don't want it?

Re: Don't want a Netflix account

Thank you all for your replies. As you can tell, I am not particularly tech-savvy, as I am older than dirt and find all this new-fangled streaming stuff a bit bamboozling.

So all I need to do is set up a Netflix account using the same email address as my Sky account and then what do I do - link it through Netflix's app/website or through Sky?

These are the instructions to get started if you have no existing netflix account

As you seem to be moving from sky+HD - have you also seen nigea's info about what to expect / what's different?
