Dolby Atmos intermittent

Hi. Having intermittent problems with Dolby Atmos broadcasts on Sky Q. I have a 2TB box playing through Yamaha A870 amp and LG 65BV Oled. When I play an Atmos broadcast on Sky sometimes I get sound and sometimes I don't. Mostly however it takes 2-3 minutes of playing the program silently before the sound kicks in. All other Atmos sources play fine including apps on TV (eg Netflix) and DVD which also play via the amp. Sky Sports Atmos broadcasts like football work fine all the time, the problem only happens with movies or series e.g. Town Called Malice on Sky. I don't change any settings, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but, as I say mostly it works after a few mins. If I pause a working broadcast and then play it it also takes 2-3 mins to start hearing sound. Any genuine help appreciated

thanks

hi @Richard+Mchugh

I don't know why this should be a problem & no idea if this will assist.

I have a Yamaha A3090 & never had a problem with Atmos on SKY Q

I would say, however, I sometimes have problems with Atmos from my UHD player - sometimes it takes a few seconds to kick in & occasionally (although possibly >50% of times) if I pause playback on the UHD disc when I press play again I get similar problem of no sound.

When I get this sometimes I can get it to recover more quickly by switching to a different source & then back again - so maybe this might work for you when you have problems with SKY Q Atmos

(BTW Atmos from DVD ........ - But I think I know what you mean!)

Re: Dolby Atmos intermittent

Thanks nigea99

Just tried that idea of switching source and switching back again and it worked. Will keep an eye to see if it's a permanent workaround

thanks
