Disney+ crash

Hello when watching Disney on sky it goes black screen after so long and then you have to turn box off and on if you use a firestick to watch Disney it works well.

what could be the reason behind it?

Re: Disney+ crash

All the apps are prone to bugs/glitches like this. The box is just a computer whose primary function is to output audio/video (basically a media server.) As such the apps will have bugs that may (or may not) be fixed over time.

I don't know if Sky write the apps themselves or use supplied versions (I suspect the latter) but it's noticeable that the versions on my  (2025 model) TV are faster and more reliable than the ones on the Q box. It may just be that the Q box's hardware is showing its age especially for UHD/HDR content?

hi @Grumpy48

Honestly I have no specific knowledge as to why it would behave like this but - a personal view here - SKY Q is now old tech spefically desingned around providing Satellite TV & being able to support it's own mini boxes & I think apps are provided  to provide convenience and help entice or keep customers  rather being a platform to best support those apps.

Personally I never use my SKY Q box for apps to watch in earnest (only to check things out) and I generally recommend customers to use either their TV's in built apps or dedicated devices (such as your Firestick) which are more likely to run better and provide more features (such as Dolby Vision)

I do understand why customers use & like the convenience of the apps on SKY Q but, as I say & a personal view (which I think is shared by many) , I think customers are better served by using apps elsewhere  - especially on more modern hardware which virtually everything is now
