Decorating living room where sky qbox sits …

Hi there, I'm currently decorating the living room. The tv has been removed, but have left sky Q box powered up.

Now watching in another room and a mini box.

The mini box (and for that matter sky go app) looses connection to the main box overnight and it needs a power cycle every day.

All boxes are connected via Ethernet.

It works fine all day, but power cycle required every morning..

Am thinking main sky Q is going into deep sleep mode because not being used ?

Any other things to look at ?

Thanks 🙏

hi @richie59

I don't think the main box does  go into any deeper sleep mode when not connected to a TV although if there is no interaction it might be due to the Standby settings mode - see below

What time are you trying to connect - if the standby settings are set to eco (the default I think) then the boxes do go into a deep sleep mode in the early hours (I am not sure the exact times)

If it is set to Active then maybe the lack of interaction is causing it to sleep (I am not that familiar with this setting)

Check the settings in :

Home - Settings - Preferences - Standby Mode & set to None

(although you will have to connect to a TV or monitor to be able to do this)

Re: Decorating living room where sky qbox sits …

Thanks for your reply !

It's set to active, because I usually power a ring security camera via the USB port on the back, if left to eco the camera would disconnect overnight.  That camera was removed recently when I dismantled the room.

I'll try your suggestion and report back, cheers !

Re: Decorating living room where sky qbox sits …

Thanks for all the help. To 100% resolve I needed to change the power save setting back to eco. Weirdly changing to "none" or "active " still caused the problem. I also needed to re-enable the mini box and sky go from the master unit.

The box does sleep during the small hours but is now coming back to life during the day.
