Connectivity issues

My parents have recently joined Sky, and their equipment, remote controls and interface look and feel entirely different, modern and refreshed. As a long-standing customer, it is extremely frustrating to see new customers receiving a far better experience while I continue paying for ageing equipment that regularly causes problems.

The broadband router frequently drops out, which then disconnects the Sky Multiroom service. Each time this happens, I have to reconnect the router and then go through the process of reconnecting Multiroom. This can take more than 30 minutes, and it is incredibly frustrating having to repeatedly run up and down the stairs trying to get the service working again.

To make matters worse, after resetting the box, the remote control often does not work properly, meaning I cannot even progress through the setup instructions without further problems.

There are also several other issues with the service: My wife works shifts, but when she tries to use Multiroom at around 2am, the service is sometimes unavailable. The streaming apps and controls feel outdated and restrictive. On long YouTube videos or streams, I can only fast-forward in small 10 or 30-second increments, whereas newer Sky equipment allows users to quickly move directly to a timestamp several hours ahead.

The overall service is no longer acceptable, particularly for the amount I pay each month. I am completely fed up with the repeated connection issues, outdated equipment and the amount of time I have to spend trying to get the system working.

@Ck36  If you have Sky Q and your parents have Sky Stream these are 2 different systems both in look & feel, there is nothing at all stiopping you from moving over to Sky stream, you just need to speak to Sky.  If that is your intention then do due research and perhaps see your parents Sky Stream puck and how it works etc.

It sounds like the boxes you have are in eco mode, you will need to change the settings on your Q boxes see this guide https://www.sky.com/help/articles/using-the-standby-settings

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
