Connecting a DVD player

Hi all excuse me if I appear a little stupid but since I bought my Samsung Smart TV I have no idea how to navigate between the Samsung TV stuff and my Sky Q, and cannot now find how to connect my DVD so that I can actually see a picture? I used to be able to press a button get a drop down list change to the channel for playing a DVD and then back again. Now? I have no [Removed] idea where I am?! I have the HDMIs set correctly but when I press the button on the top right of my sky remote I get loads of stuff on a sor t of taskbar along the bottom of the screen mixed up with Samsung stuff?!! Help please?! Many thanks. H🙄

hi @Henry+the+eigth

I am sorry I am not familiar with Samsung TVs

It is quite possible that the SKY remote's limited function of  normally just selecting an HDMI input is not suitable, although it may possibly be able to do this by changing some settings on your TVs menus.

You will need to lookup the help for your TV and use the TV's own remote to change any settings & it may always be necessary to use the TV's own remote to select your DVD player

You may also be able to set the TV & DVD players 'CEC' control to on which would mean playing a dvd would automatically switch the TV - although note the Player & TV may note refer to CEC but other names - my Panasonic  TVs and players call it Viera Link (but that is Panasonic's own name)
