Connecting Focal analogue speakers to LG TV

I have a new LG OLED 65 inch TV.

I have a pair of high end analogue Focal speakers

I attached a PROZOR 192Khz DAC convertor by Optical lead from TV optical output  and thence by headphone jack to the Focal speakers with RCA coax connectors

The Sound output works  but I have discovered that the optical out has no volume control ability  and therefore the sky remote cannot control the volume, even though it is successfully paired with the TV.  Any suggestions as to how to connect the TV output to the Focal speakers and which also allows volume control by the Sky remote?

hi @MIKEW-UK

I don't know Focal Speakers specifically but I don't suspect they lead themselves to the sort of setup you are trying.

I suspect they are more suitable to a more conventional connection via an amplifier that has speaker connections

To get decent sound  from you rspeakers   you probably also need to know the power handling capabilities of the speakers and check that any amp is suitable for driving them

Re: Connecting Focal analogue speakers to LG TV

Thanks for your rapid response

The Focal speakers were attached to the headphone socket of a prior Psnsonic T  and worked flawlessly.  They also function perfectly with the new LG T  connected using the optical out to input of a DAC convertor and then

through the headphone out socket of the convertor to the speakers with RCA coax connectors.  The issue is that optical out signal is steady and does not permit volume control through the TV remote or Sky remote.  I wonder if HDMI out to a convertor and then to the speakers would permit volume control by remote?

hi @MIKEW-UK

Such a converter is likely to give the same results as your optical. DAC converter.

I have not done any research on any such converters but have you looked specifically for optical or HDMI coverters specifically for Headphones ?

Re: Connecting Focal analogue speakers to LG TV

I shall research further.  I will either have to find  a Dac optical to analogue convertor with a volume control on the  ouput built in  ,

or a HDMI to analogue convertor if such a thing exists.  Thanks again.

Re: Connecting Focal analogue speakers to LG TV

All sorted.

Purchased from Amazon PROZOR HDMI ARC Audio Extractor 5.1CH – HDMI ARC to Optical SPDIF RCA L/R 3.5mm 2.0CH Audio Converter Supports 192kHz DAC, Dolby/DTS for ARC TVs, Home Cinema & Sound Systems.

Tv HDMI ARC  cable  to Prozor HDMI, headphone out to Focal active speakers. Sky remote controls all functions including volume through speakers.  Thanks
