Ok ! This is complicated.
We have a SKY Q box and our SKY services also includes Discovery + for free but I haven't activiated the account yet. We also have Prime Video amongst the apps on our Sky Q box . We have been paying £18.00 a month to BT for TNT Sports which has been coming to us via the Sky Q box. In addition, we have had access to much of what TNT Sport has to offer via the Prime Video app as well. In order to save £18 per month I've cancelled my subscription to TNT Sports via BT. Given that we have both the Prime Video app and the ( yet to be actiuviated) Discovery + app, will Prime still give me much of TNT Sports?

When you buy TNT Sports on Sky via BT, EE (or Sky), you get the channels in the TV Guide, the ability to record and access to discovery+ Premium.
If you buy through Prime Video you are simply ordering discovery+ Premium, which includes TNT Sports, but you will access the content via Prime Video or the discovery+ app and not via the TV Guide.
Your Sky subscription already includes a basic discovery+ app subscription. You can find the differences between each level here:

Edit: I see you can subscribe to Discovery+ Premium (very expensive) via Amazon Prime that obviously includes TNT Sports.

So are you saying that by kicking TNT via BT in the head I lose TNT coverage of football via the Prime/ D+ arrangement because Sky only gives be basic Discovery?

If you are paying BT to access TNT Sports (on any platform), you are basically paying for discovery+ Premium which includes TNT Sports.
If you stop doing that then you will not be able to watch it, the free version included with Sky does not include TNT Sports.
