Catch-up in SD with signing?

I'm not even sure this is a question for here, but not sure where else to go.

I've recently become... well obsessed is the word, with the show Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, but can anyone tell me why virtually all the episodes on Catchup are in SD and shown with signing? So far, only about three episodes of the whole seven series, have been in HD and without signing. It's like I'm being fobbed off with second best because I'm using Catchup.

Well, I found the HD option and re-downloaded, but it's still signed.

@Bill1968 yep unfortunately signing can be on the HD version its the BBC that supply the assets to Sky. It may be an idea to look on the Iplayer and see if they are available on there without signing

Hi @Bill1968   A question for viewer relations, try emailing viewerR@sky.uk . I don't know the programme, so is it from a Sky channel?

As far as I can see on my box, every episode of all 7 seasons is available to download in HD.

Hi, @MightyQuinn

Thanks for the response. It's a BBC show.

Thanks. Maybe it defaults to SD, I'll have to check again. Hopefully if I can get it in HD it will mean no signing too!

@Bill1968 check in the synopsis of the programme if its got signing it should have SL stated but the BBC are notoriously bad for having SL on programmes that aren't signed there was a series i was downloading and came across some that had 2 version signed and non signed but the synopsis for both stated SL i had to download and check which was which.

Well, I found the HD option and re-downloaded, but it's still signed.

Edit: Well I've just started series 7 and they're all marked with an 'S' so it looks like I'm stuck with half the picture size and signing! Unless 'S' means subtitles available. I don't see an 'SL' anywhere so I've no idea how to get them without signing.

@Bill1968 your welcome  the cynic in me wonders if the BBC do this on purpose at times to make people use Iplayer 🤣

Unwanted signing has always been a problem with the BBC Catch Up section on Sky but it has got so bad recently that I think it must be deliberate to encourage use of iPlayer instead. I've just had a look at Gone Fishing and while all episodes are available in HD, the episodes I downloaded all have signing too, without any SL tag.
