Cannot have a dish anymore

I am moving to a new build next month and have beeb informed we cannot have a satellite dish up. Sky stream is nowhere near as good in my opinion and also more expensive than my current plan. Can I actually cancel whilst in contract as I cannot get the service I pay for anymore. What are my options I have maybe 10 months left on my contract.  Thanks

To cancel completely you’ll need to contact Sky giving the required notice of 31 days. Remember, the latest T’s and C’s for TV subscriptions state you can only cancel within a minimum discounted term if Sky agree to it. If they do allow it you’ll end up paying off the rest of the discounted term. No being able to have a dish at the new address is not automatically a reason to be able to cancel.

hi @Stevetricia1

Have you checked whether there is any chance they can provide a feed via a comuunal distribution system - although not that common,  I think some new estates do/can provide a suitable feed

BTW if there is no chance of a Satellite feed you could possibly switch to SKY Stream

OP did refer to that 😉

If Sky used that as a reason to not allow a cancellation in these circumstances I'd be fuming. But I expect they would want to see some evidence of the dish ban.

As far as im aware when i phoned up from the terms and conditions if you move house and cant have a dish u dont have to pay to cancel the contract as u cant have it at the new property.

They will probably try and get u to have stream or glass, but i would avoid atm as i had mine for a week and it was rubbish. unless u really want sky get stream not glass!

Let's all jump on the I'm moving house to get out of my contract early if that is the case

Sky in the past have refused to allow people to cancel contracts if they move to somewhere they can't have a dish unless they pay an early cancellation fee.

@Matto+E thereis a link below to the T&C's and there are only a few reasons given for being allowed to end your contract early and moving house is not one of them so don't know who you spoke to when you called but they obviously aren't aware of whats in the T&C's
