HDMI 1 (or as my father-in-law calls it "HDM eleven" 😁)
power cycle the sky box, sounds like it's crashed and the TV isn't detecting any incoming signal.

Turn it off at the wall socket, wait 30 secs, power back on

Yep. Or just pull the power cable out of the back for 15 seconds. Wall switch is cleaner.
You can also try holding down the power button with the light on the front of the box for 20 seconds. That should reboot it too.
I told him (he's 78 I think but super active and can do stuff with power tools I have no hope of replicating) that HDMI stands for High Definition Mutimedia Interface to help him understand why it's an "I" and not another "1" but unsurprisingly, I don't think he cares to remember that! 😄
