Hi all,
I want to cancel Sky Q. It says on my account that my packages are ok until 9/7/24. Might be thinking too much into this but do I need to cancel exactly on 9th June to to ensure I have no early repayment charges? A day after? I'm really not sure.

You can put in the cancellation notice any time from now. It doesn't have to be precise. You pay a month in advance so you'll be refunded anything you overpay.

@Padam_Padam that's incorrect, giving notice now will incur early termination charges as the notice period starts the day you give it therefore if @Fergo81 was to give notice today the contract would end 2/7/24 leaving 7 days of early termination charges to pay
@Fergo81 to avoid early termination charges you need to give notice no earlier than 8/6/24 which is exactly 31 days to July 9

You can give more notice for your contract to end on a certain date. I gave almost 2 months this year, asking for it to end on my contract end date. It's a minimum of 31 days notice.

Thank you so much

@Chalk+Serpent can you confirm that your service actually ended on the date you expected and wasn't charged early termination fees as it's very unlike sky to divert from standard policy

@SKY1992bf Yes it did, I know others who've done this as well. It isn't Sky policy anyway, it's a minimum of 31 days notice. If you don't specify the date they probably will presume you're just giving them the 31 days though. I also recommend you do this via email, live chat online, text or WhatsApp so you've got it in writing. I did via WhatsApp, I had the chat still from a previous time they asked me to message this way and sent me a link,so just replied to that. I previously did it via email but took out another contract that time before it switched off, the end date in my account was correct that time as well though. I wouldn't trust Sky to get it right if doing this over the phone.

Here's part of the chat (I think photos attached take a while to be approved and appear so may need to check back later).
