Cancelling Sky Q - Options

My Sky package is due to expire and is stupidly expensive with a large price hike.

ive phone up twice to see what can be done but it's barely dropped at all.

the problem is, we don't have any aerials up stairs and currently have mult room to give us the tv viewing up there.

what are our options?

I asked about freesat but I have to pay £15 a month for that so it's not free.

thougt about getting a freesat box but it doesn't look like there is the option to have a multi room option so we would only have tv in living room.

is anyone able to help or advise please?

I believe you can now have multiroom with essentials but isn't cheap.

Frankly, there's nothing else like Q for distributing live/recorded TV across multiple TV's (virgin have a similar system I believe).

With no aerial then you're left with streaming.  There are plenty of plug in devices if the TV isn't 'smart'.

Sky don't market anything as "freesat" so not sure it's fair to complain that their thing they don't call free isn't free.

I would go with the essentials+multiroom if it were me. I got the impression mutiroom is not a separate charge for that recently but not 100% sure.

We're currently paying £15 a month on multi room.

Indeed - 'freesat' is 'free' but you have to have equipment to receive it.

That could be Q (subscription for box), Freesat box (one-off payment) or tuner in TV.

Q LNB is only compatible with Freesat 4K boxes.  Most TV's will not work without changing the LNB.

@CKing1

If cost is an issue then why not do away with satellite completely and switch to a streaming only option? You don't need a TV aerial either.

All the main free to air channels (BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & Channel 5) allow you to watch live TV via their own apps, all of which are free and built in to most modern smart TVs. All you need is a broadband connection, either via WiFi or ethernet.

For Sky channels you can get a subscription to the NOW service which can work out a lot cheaper and can be viewed on 3 different devices at the same time in HD with the Boost subscription.

The NOW app is available on many smart TVs or can be downloaded to a Firestick, Roku, GoogleTV or Apple TV box.
