Can I boost my skq mini box?

I have a bar at the top of our garden about 40 meters from the house and the sky q mini worked fine. However since extending the bar the mini now struggles probably due to the addded insulation so im looking for a solution to boost the signal from the house. I have sky bb, a sky q box and 4 minis to include the one in the bar. There is no route for me to hard wire all the way back to the router or Q box so im wondering if I could hard wire half way down the garden to an outside socket and put in a sky booster in an open face adapatble box to keep any rain out. My thinking is that the booster can then pick up wifi from the nearest mini in the house to send a hard wired signal to the bar mini?

Does anyone know if this would work or have any better ideas?

TIA

Hi @Mark7111

40 metres is a bit of a stretch for WiFi.

As regards hardwiring a Q booster halfway this should work but no guarantee and you would have to try it.

Possibly, but note that Sky boosters aren't designed to cope with being frozen or drenched in condensation.

You could consider investigating dedicated outdoor-rated point-to-point WiFi products.

Re: Can I boost my skq mini box?

Thanks for that, I hadnt considered that option but if I put in something like the ubiquiti point to point would they work with the sky q without having to do some remapping of IP addesses or something techy? So I pressume I'd need to hardwire the transmitter from the sky router and then hard wire the reciever to the mini in the bar which would then see the wifi signal and therefore the q box?

Personally I'd go router to ethernet switch, ethernet switch to AP, AP to AP, AP to ethernet switch and then ethernet switch to Q Mini

Personally @Mark7111

I would try and find a way to go Full Ethernet

Re: Can I boost my skq mini box?

Thats great, thanks for your help. I've ordered this kit https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/41919-ubiquiti-locom5-kit-2xwm-ns1-pnp/ along with it being preconfigured to 50 meter range at 5ghz.

Do you know if it will plug and play with me just changing the bar mini to see a wired connection or do I need to do any reconfiguration on the sky router?
