Cable Query

Hi. I am s Sky customer and just looking for some advice please.

We will soon be removing a kitchen wall in our house which links to another room where our secondary Sky box is. In this room there is also a cable that comes into our house from the outdoor satellite dish that was installed many years ago. This cable runs along the wall that will be knocked down and then on and into our living room where our main box is and our broadband router is then in another room from this.

I’m just wondering if this cable performs a function any longer and whether it is required at all in order for us to receive Sky TV, etc?

I think it may no longer be required, hopefully, as I think that possibly the Sky TV now comes into our house via the wi-fi from our broadband router and as such if the cable is cut it will have no impact on our Sky service but just looking to confirm this..

Furthermore, I was wondering if the satellite dish is actually required any longer and if not what is the procedure for having this removed from our outdoor wall?

Many thanks.

If you still have Sky Q, you still need a dish, and you still need the cable feed.

it's yours - so up to you.  But, as noted, Q will stop working if you remove it.

Incidently, if you ever move to Stream, which is provided via your internet, Sky do not remove cables or dishes. Ownership of these transferred to the householder on being erected and the householder is responsible for the removal at their own cost.

Re: Cable Query

Hi Daniel0210 and PandJ2020

Thank you very much for the responses, they are very helpful. So looks like I will have to keep the cable or move to Sky Stream then.
