Broadband issues with Sky Q and/or Mini
I know a number of people are having trouble with WiFi, the Sky Q box and/or a Mini box. I was thinking of why that might be and I came up with a possible reason why the problems.
The problem could be very simple. It could be that the Router is underpowered and you have too many devices connected to your Router using the processor and bandwidth.
Think about it. Here we have...
2 TV
2 Xbox
2 Amazon Alexa
1 Amaon Firestick 4k
1 Sky Q
1 Sky Mini
2 iPhones
1 iPad
2 Computers
1 Phillips Hue Hub
2 Apple Watches
2 Smart plugs
That's 19 devices. Not all are in use at the same time. But imagine a household with a family with say 2 kids. That could be even more devices connected to the router using bandwidth and processor.
Remember, the routers given by the ISPs are not always that wonderful and may not have a strong enough processor. Maybe the router is being overloaded and failing.

Re: Broadband issues with Sky Q and/or Mini
Well my Q is hardwired rather than using Wi-Fi.
I'm sure however it's purely coincidental that despite no new devices being added and everything working perfectly until Q updated it's firmware a couple of days ago.

Re: Broadband issues with Sky Q and/or Mini
In theory most routers will support 250 devices as there are 254 ip addresses however BT confirm 180 others are sound the same. The amount of devices you have listed won't cause an issue. It wouldn't also block only certain actions like downloading of sky programs but allow access to things like Netflix, Disney plus or downloading from bbc itv of Channel 4. I did find however changing to another dns did work for me. There is more with this issue which I am sure with some investigation sky will get to the bottom of it.

Re: Broadband issues with Sky Q and/or Mini
I did at one time have a router that wasn't able to handle all the devices we had.It would lock up occationally. So it is possible to overload a router depending on the processor and amount of memory.
