Box says no internet, yet internet is working and the box can download software updates.

Last night notivced I can't acces any online services through the Q box.

Q Box reports connection to router but no internet, yet the internet is working on all other devices and the Sky Q box can download software updates thus has a working internet connection!

No setup changes my side, been working for years, 

 

The Q Box is connected to the router by ethernet cable, however I have tried wireless with no improvement.   Rebooted everything and tried manually setting the IP and DNS etc, all to no effect.

 

I have seen this before when the Q box can't see the internet DNS server, but that is not the issue this time.  I'm wondering if the Q box's DNS query used to show a working route to the internet is not resolving properly?

Hi @smeagol2 

There should be no issues with a full Ethernet connection.
Have you carried out a Network reset on the main Q box with the Ethernet connected.

Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router (or Sky router if on Sky Broadband). Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
If you have no minis on WiFi you can turn off all Q box WiFi in the hidden menu. (If you have minis on WiFi you must leave the main box WiFi on)

If you want the WiFi off it needs to done immediately after the Network reset above.

As soon as it connects by Ethernet go into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi. 

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

@oldfella  yes, I have carried out a Network reset on the box.

 

As I mentioned, Q Box is connecting to the router.  Router is connected to the internet and is working fine.   Q Box reports no route to inteternet, however when I tried a software update on the Q box, it connected to and downloaded updates from the internet with no issue.  However this did not resovle th e origianl problem that the Q Box reports not internet and will not allow me to use these services.
