1080p question

Hi, I have a 43" lg smart tv, I love watching football, 1080i (the default) setting looks poor... Is 1080p which does look better, the best overall resolution setting for general viewing. A 1080p picture looks softer and shows better natural colours IMHO. Do most of you set 1080p or 1080i.

Either the Q box or the TV will deinterlace - it depends on which is best at it.  (There's no right answer)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

1080i is the native source resolution.
1080P is the Q box deinterlacing the native signal and outputting it as a progressive signal.
Many modern smart TVs are better at deinterlacing than a near 10 year old Sky Q box, but choose whatever looks better to your eyes.
