Where do I put my different devices?

 Video Doorbell & Chime

See who's at your door from your phone. Even chat with them:

Put your Video Doorbell outside of your front door. About 5ft above your 'welcome' mat if you have one. Your chime will live right by your router.

Choosing the right spot for your doorbell:

  • Find your perfect spot. Your Video Doorbell work's best when installed on a flat surface roughly between 1.2-1.5 metres off the ground, using the back plate supplied. Making sure you get the best field of view and motion detection.

  • Check what you can see in-app. Part of positioning your Video Doorbell is checking the live view in the Sky Protect app. Before you finalise the position for mounting, make sure you're happy with the view in frame on your phone.

  • Consider your home set up: The Video Doorbell requires a good wireless connection to your Chime so shouldn't be placed more than 8 metres apart from each other. Your home layout could have an impact on connectivity, such as thick walls or doors between connected devices. Try making sure there's a clear path between your Video Doorbell and Chime.

Good to know: If you don't have a completely flat surface, we include wedges to change the angle slightly.

Indoor Camera

Your camera's there for you to keep an eye and ear on your home:

So, place it on a shelf, wall or wherever works best for you. Don't forget that with the auto-arm feature, your camera goes on when you're out, letting you be in full control.

Choosing the right spot for your Indoor Camera:

We'd recommend putting your camera where it gives you the best view of the whole room and remember your camera needs main power and must be in rage of Wi-Fi and your sensors.

Leak Sensor

Your Leak Sensor helps look out for unwanted water:

Even hidden leaks. Place under a sink, by washing machine or dishwasher, neat a water tank or anywhere else you're worried about water escaping.

Choosing the right spot for your Leak Sensor:

Place your Leak Sensors on the floor near areas where water is used, such as around appliances. Consider where leaks are most likely to occur or where damage could happen, such as;

  • Next to washing machines and dishwashers
  • Behind kickboards in kitchens near pipes and sinks
  • Next to bath panels in bathrooms
  • Underneath boilers and hot water tanks

You can also position sensors in areas where you want to track temperature or humidity levels.

Feel free to plave your sensors in other locations that meet your needs.

Motion Sensor

Fit at a height of around 6ft up on a wall, so that if something moves when it shouldn't, you'll know about it.
