Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

Same happened to us. Swapped two phones which were both pristine in cases and with screen protectors but one phone was allegedly damaged and downvalued. Still waiting for the Samsung £150 cashback as promised if we swapped also.

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

After querying this with sky I have now been credited the full amount and the 50% reduction was due to a small scuff apparently 🤔

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

I too have had 2 phones value reduced £139 to £69.50 due to screen burn!

I was only upgrading as with the money Sky offered and the £150 for each upgrade off Samsung I should have been in credit £160.

I had them returned to see for myself, no sign of any screenburn what so ever. I paid them off to sell myself not realising that I have now lost the Samsung deal.

I have a dispute ongoing with Sky to try and claim the lost £300. Kept phones incase proof required.20221026_180601.jpg20221030_091842.jpg

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

Same thing has happened to me. A complete scam by Sky. Returned my old phone in pristine condition. Not a blemish on it and in perfect working order.

Received an email saying my old phone's value had reduced from £204 to £104, due a small pixel burnout on the screen.

When I phoned Sky, their representative agreed he could see no blemish on the screen from the photo the 3rd party phone company supplied them, but there was nothing he could do.

Been with Sky 20 years now, but sending new phone back and will be cancelling all products I have with them.

A complete con.

If anyone is thinking about using "Ingram Micro" just look at the "Trust Pilot" reviews 92% 1 star. I know reviews are not everything but a useful indicator. Unless of course this is not the same firm.

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

You don't get to choose as it is Sky who use them to assess the phones. Sky wasn't able to show me the proof of the damage and said it was down to me to get the evidence off Ingram Micro. Been a Sky Mobile customer for 5 or 6 years, they weren't bothered. Gave up in the end and cancelled contract and went elsewhere.

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

I have just been ripped of by Sky for a Samsung S20 to S22 swap

The phone was in great condition, they offer me £220 then dropped it to £110

Been with sky for 10 years and they pull this scam on you.

If they offered you a lower price what reason did they give for this, did they say it was damaged. If so and you know it wasn't then why not do what others have done and phone Sky and ask them from proof of the "damage" ?

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

To answer the last poster, Sky have told me that pixel burnout on screen is not a visible fault, as it effects the interior of the phone. How convenient by Ingram Micro as it means their decision is not easily challenged.

There are umpteen accounts in this thread of Sky customers all being told that their old phone has had internal pixel burnout and having their phones devalued by 50%. This doesn't pass the smell test. I have now raised 4 complaints with Sky raising potential fraud by Ingram Micro over this affair. Each time Sky have closed down my complaint without responding. I was scheduled to receive a callback from a. Sky Manager on Monday and guess what, I received no call.

Sky are trying to close down any contacts on this subject. Looks like a major cover up.

I am now going to raise a dispute with Sky with CISAS. See link:

https://www.cedr.com/consumer/cisas/

Might be an idea others doing the same.

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

Just an update from me. Sky have contacted me tonight to say that screen burnout should never had been considered in a devaluation of phone value.

They have sorted things and I am grateful. I just wish it hadn't taken so much effort.

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

This latest posting suggesting screen burn should not be the reason for devaluation of a mobile phone as agreed by Sky is flabergasting.

Nearly 100% of complaints re devaluation of returned mobile relate to screen burn issues. Am I and all the others therefore due compensation for such a reason?

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

Experienced the exact same from Sky today! Waited over 4 weeks for a response after they received my phone on 4th Jan ( royal mail confirmed the delivery date as it was signed for post.) Find it really interesting that you cannot submit a complaint as the form isn't working either! Sky contacted me to say that my phone ( iPhone 12 - pristine condition) had additional damage to the screen and they were going to discount the original value by £120!!! Spoke to an advisor on the phone who told me to not bother taking it further as the other people he would connect me to would tell me the same information he has. I am contemplating reporting them to ombudsman and trading standards if they do not deal with my complaint efficiently and provide solid proof that the damage to the phone is worth £120 as I can sell it to Envirophone with damage for £250! Sky sort yourselves out - this is a complete joke and scam!

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

Keep at them, I was eventually given the full amount that was initially offered.

Re: sky mobile swap is basically a scam

Exactly the same problems as all of the above. Sent my iPhone 12 back, perfect working order, absolutely no issues in the two years we owned it. Screen protector and case on the whole two years, two small scratches on each corner. Told the "additional damage" was the charging port....... despite charging fully, battery kept charge, no issues. But Sky refused to pay my outstanding balance as "promised" when I was duped to upgrade the phone and knocked £85 off the value. Options? Pay up or reject swap - which I've had to do. Absolute con. Anyone escalated this further?
