iphone 7 sky mobile won't connect to internet when WIFI off.  IOS 15.8.3 ..But my wife's does!

All settings appear the same on the two iphones.

What is happening when you trying to get it to connect to your Wifi ?

Everything is as expected when on WIFI.  When out in public, no WiFi available the mobile doesn't connect to internet - apps that require it do not work, Safari says page not available, retry etc.

My wife has same IOS and hers works fine when no WiFi.

I made it perfectly clear that it all worked with WiFi, how could that be the case with no SIM?

If comments are that basic it is not constructive help.

If I have understood you correctly, you are saying that when you are not at home and connected to your Wifi and there is no Wifi when you are out and about then mobile data isn't working when you have it turned on via the iphone's settings ?

Because the SIM only enables cellular.  You can connect to WiFi without a SIM inside the phone.

Correct. I have gone through the settings with my wife's iphone side by side. They appear to be identical in WiFi, network, bluetooth, Mobile data, and General/ Control Centre. Apart from IOS changes in last year/two which we both have why would my mobile stop working when outside any WiFi, yet hers works sitting side by side anywhere away from home? No Hotspots on either.

Can the Sky mobile network registered details stop mine working like that?  Both sims report as unrestricted. Both show 4G from time to time, and bars on the 'busy' graph top left display.

Both have plenty of memory space, she has more apps loaded than me.

I have turned mine off /on and even done reset in  'mobile data network'

Puzzled.

Tried a resend of APN settings?

A replacement SIM is worth trying - but the account holder will have to call Sky as you can no longer order one online.

The 'Mobile data'  shows APN  - 'mobile.sky'.

I have previously pressed  'Reset Settings'  - nothing appeared to happen.

On checking all entries they seem unchanged.

I will now do it again.

Apart from some fault in the handset?  I am at a loss to understand what has happened - and out of the blue as far as I am concerned.

I will take your suggestion and order a replacement SIM.  If my wife who is anxious will let me swap SIMs that might reveal more clues.

Eventually followed the SKY online help for my mobile model. It would appear that going through the Transfer or Reset process, finally doing the Network reset twice has cured the problem. I lost the WiFi connection to the router but soonput the password back in.

At last!
