iPhone / iPad sims
Hi.
I recently got a new iPad 2025, and was hoping it would just mirror my iPhone 17, with the same apps, contacts, etc. I'm currently abroad and was hoping it would be better for FaceTime etc. However, I think I clicked on some data plan when purchasing, and the iPad seems to have an e-sim with a completely different phone number, and hasn't really transferred any data over. I'm not sure if it's something I done wrong in the setup, or if what I was hoping for is even possible (my iPhone 17 has a physical sim) When I tried to get a PAC code, if that was even the right thing to do, it said "we're not sure what device you want a PAC code for, please contact us", but that's not easy either! Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: iPhone / iPad sims
PAC codes are for moving phone numbers across networks.
An iPad is not a phone. (It doesn't have the hardware to act as a 'phone'). However, you can use data-based communication services such a FaceTime or WhatsApp.
As long as use the same Apple ID then certain information will be shared from the iCloud, such as contacts.
You will need to install the Apps you need. It doesn't 'mirror' your phone.

Re: iPhone / iPad sims
Thanks for your help.
I think I've definitely confused things by signing up for a small data plan with the iPad, so they've assigned a number to the e-sim (which is a different number from my phone) I was just hoping to FaceTime from the iPad as if it were my phone really. I'll download some of the apps. Thanks again.

Re: iPhone / iPad sims
You can't have the same number on 2 different sims @MM2025 See the link below for making calls etc by linking your iPhone to your iPad.
