iPhone esim transfer

I will be getting a new iPhone delivered tomorrow direct from Apple, Apple support pages suggests I can transfer my current esim from my 13 PM to my 16 PM during the initial setup, while Sky support pages say I need to order a replacement esim,, can anyone clear up which method  is required.

Also if I need to order a replacement esim can I do this now and not activate it until tomorrow allowing time for the codes to all come through and beating any potential rush tomorrw, or will doing this now deactivate my current esim.

Going by what it says here:

It looks like you have to order a replacement esim for your new phone so you might want to wait until you have the phone.
