It might not be as Apple have a history of discontinuing previous models with the 17 being the latest version.

It was actually announced in the press in mid September that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have been discontinued by Apple so there might be significant problems getting any stock (and that would apply to all suppliers).
