Voicemail Just Appeared

Voicemail has just appeared on my phone. I have never had this prior to today? Can anyone tell me how to switch it off.?

Hi @Rosie1958 look here. Whilst it can't be turned off altogether you can set it so messages can't be left.

I have tried this but hasn't worked. I have never had voicemail on my phone and just don't understand how it has just appeared.

How hasn't it worked @Rosie1958  ? Have you followed the instructions as it definitely works.
