Using internet to make a what’s app call

I thought if you used the internet to make a call that there would not be a roaming charge

i have roaming turned off and used the internet in the apartment to make a call to my son on what's app but then had a message to say I had a 24 hrs charge ?

is this correct?

Do you actually have roaming off or just data roaming off?

Hi @CChance  using data will trigger any roaming charges. You would need to make sure mobile data and roaming is off. WhatsApp calls over WiFi shouldn't trigger any charge so as well as above then turn on flight mode and then turn WiFi on to just use WiFi.

Wi-Fi calling doesn't work abroad and automatically goes to a manual type call which would trigger charges if you are trying to use WiFi calling abroad.
