Re: Using Sky Sim/Mobile as hotspot for tethering
It should work in the same way as if you were watching Sky Go directly on your mobile so you should only use a tiny amount of data for the pre-roll adverts.

Re: Using Sky Sim/Mobile as hotspot for tethering
Yes, creating a hotspot will do as you want.
Obviously using the official Sky apps on Apple and Android app stores on your other devices.
You will use a small amount of data while using the apps for advertising as mentioned above.
As taken from the Sky help article, you will need at least 50mb available in your allowance to use Sky watch on Sky Go, Sky News and Sky sports apps.
Watching TV channels on the go through a Sky app in the UK won't use any data. But if you stream on demand content which contains advertising, or watch ads within some Sky apps, this might use your data allowance.
App | Type of advert | Will it use my data? |
---|---|---|
Sky Go | Pre-roll ads before a live or on demand stream starts | Yes |
Sky Go | Ads during a live stream (the adds you'd see if you watched on your TV) | No |
Sky Go | Ads during video on demand content | Yes |
Sky Sports / Sky News | Ads on web pages | Yes |
Sky Sports / Sky News | Adds before video on demand content starts | Yes |
For example, 3 minutes of ads watched on Sky Go will use approximately 30MB of data.
Subject to the table above, we don’t limit how much Sky TV you can stream on Sky apps using Sky Mobile Watch, but it’s subject to our Fair Usage Policy. You’ll need at least 50MB data available to access this service.
