Upgraded phone given new data plan not replacement
Hi
Wondering if anyone else has had this and got it resolved. I can't sort until I speak with them tomorrow but need some peace of mind.
I called to do a swap but instead they have done a new contract with a new esim. I've activated that this evening thinking it was just going to be for the existing number but nope its a brand new number. Spoke on the chat briefly but was fobbed off a bit as it was nearly closing time (I get it I've worked in a call centre).
Just hoping they can move the new data plan to the existing number and
cancel the old data plan as both are now showing on my predicted bill.

Re: Upgraded phone given new data plan not replacement
Any new plan you activate will have a new phone number.
You cannot (easily) transfer an existing number from old to new SIMs.
As it stands you will be paying for two plans.
If Sky are not prepared to apply any new plan to an existing SIM then you would have to transfer your number out of the network and back in again to the new SIM.

Re: Upgraded phone given new data plan not replacement
Thanks for reply. I managed to get it sorted they just upgraded the old sim to the new data plan with same offers etc and cancelled the new sim/contract.
So if anyone gets the same issue and stresses about it like me this is the answer 🤣

Nice - they don't always allow this.
Ensure you only have one dataplan now though...
