Upgrade

I currently have a mobile device that the contract has nearly ended. I am wondering, if I pay the rest off, could I get a new device and keep the old device too?

You can have at most 5 devices on your account so if you want a new device then you can order it at anytime you want. You can also call Sky on 150 to pay off the device you already have anytime you want. When ordering a new device you will be credit checked again of which you will need to pass.
