Unlock Sky iphone

My daughter is due to travel to Sri Lanka and intends to buy a local sim to keep her costs down. Will her sky mobile iphone accept this sim or will it need unlocking prior to her travelling?

All phones from Sky come unlocked so while the sim should work she will not know for sure until she tries to use it.
