Too dark iPhone. 16 display

Display on iPhone 16 is very dark. It's a bit brighter when I turn it on but very quickly fades to darkness.  I'm unable to distinguish anything. Any help would be gratefully received.

You need to change the brightness settings on the iphone, via Settings > Display & Brightness.

Could have developed a fault.  How old is it and was it fine previously?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Got it in May.  Went into completely dark room and could see a bit better and managed to sort it.  Thanks for your help.
