I am wanting to swap my mobile and I'm due to finish paying my handset on 4th jan. If I chose to keep my current handset will I have only December and Januarys handset fees to pay? I'm currently in a swap 24

That is correct but do note you can only do this while you are still paying for it because once you have paid it off it would belong to you so you would be unable to swap it.

Do you mean before my contract ends on 4th jan?

Before you make your final payment so if that is the 4 Janauary then yes. If you leave it to after this you will just have to order a new device when you are ready to.
