Subject: Formal Complaint – MacBook Screen Fault Purchased via Sky

Dear Sky Customer Services,

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my MacBook, purchased through Sky, which has developed a screen issue under normal use. Apple has assessed the device and claimed it is accidental damage, which they will not cover under their standard warranty.

Regardless of Apple’s warranty decision, as the retailer, Sky is legally responsible under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to ensure that goods are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and last a reasonable amount of time. The screen should not fail or develop unexplained damage during standard usage in such a short time.

I have been informed that Sky no longer carries out laptop repairs, but this does not absolve Sky of legal responsibility as the seller. I am requesting that you either repair the device, offer a replacement, or refund the cost of repair.

If this matter is not resolved within a reasonable time frame, I will have no choice but to escalate it to the Financial Ombudsman or pursue action under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act (if applicable).

Please confirm how you intend to resolve this issue within 14 days.

Yours sincerely,

Laura haxha

If it's been assessed as 'accidental damage' then warranties and your rights under the CRA etc. may not assist you.

If it's older than 6 months then you have to show the fault existed at the time of purchase.  (If it's less than 6 months then it's assumed present and the seller has to show otherwise)

@abinlid

The OP chose to close their Community account so it's extremely unlikely they will respond now.
