Stopping premium text 88222

Hi all, my daughter the last 2 months has been charge £1.50 for receiving a text message from 88222. Luckily I have a spend cap on her account but I can't seem to stop it. Any suggestions on how to stop it and where it has come from.

Thanks

@BeccaS108 Try sending  STOP via text to the number, that should stop any further texts.

The number itself belongs to a company called Tap2Bill LTD, you can find other contact details for the company including an email address here https://psauthority.org.uk/for-consumers/service-checker/check-a-number-results

Re: Stopping premium text 88222

Hi everyone,

i received this message from winAlert “FreeMsg: U have joined WinAlert! Competition Alerts £1.50/msg (max 3/week) until you send STOP to 88222. MoonlightMobile admin@moonlightmobile.co.uk” although I dont know why I received this, I tried to text STOP to the 88222 number but it’s saying “sending failed”

i know  I have a spending cap on my contract so does this mean I can not be charged for these messages? I have no clue. How do I stop these messages from them numbers?

PLEASE HELP 😊

@Mia7 It costs £0.10p to send an SMS to 88222 so if you've a spend cap of less than £0.10p the SMS won't send.

As quoted previously, the contact details for the company are all available on the PSA website -  https://psauthority.org.uk

Re: Stopping premium text 88222

I'm new to Sky and have just taken a iPad contract. I've checked my bill today and see £6 for 4 x £1.50 txt from 88222. Not signed up to this and don't know why it's charged me on an iPad which can't send txt independently. Ant advice how to stop them and be refunded. Not a hood start to my Sky experience.

@Tony+Wing You can find out the contact details for the service provider by putting the shortcode number into the PSA website - https://psauthority.org.uk/for-consumers/service-checker

I'd recommend contacting them.

If the link doesn't work then google "psauthority". That's who you need to report it to.

Re: Stopping premium text 88222

I had this only yesterday with £19.50 of extra charges. I called sky and they wouldn't let me block this number and said that only a cap to £0 will stop this, so cap it is!

I think sky really should look in to this problem of scams through mobile phone numbers as it's obviously a problem.

Re: Stopping premium text 88222

Hi

My wife has just experianced this and I was told the exact same by Sky, 'nothing we can do apart from a £0 cap'!

We will look at this ps authority page to see if this will help stop those pesky messages.

Re: Stopping premium text 88222

I just received my bill, I don't need this number testing on behalf of me, this is terrible, please stop this number, right from the beginning of my contract I choose  smell cap, an surprised that it was not done by sky, this is fraudulent act I must say.

thank you
