Sky piggyback exchange limit

Sky advertise their piggyback feature as being able to use the rolled over data to put towards a new phone upgrade. My question is, is there a limit with how much I can use to exchange? I have 0.75 terabytes of unused data, but when trying to get an upgrade the most I can get off is £10 for 5gb or something like that. That's pretty pointless.

Does it not stack?

I think the maximum amount you can redeem is 50GB for a total of £10 off the full price.

Thanks for the reply mate. Seems a bit of a scam that tbh. Pretty pointless feature.

Having 750GB in your Piggybank suggests you're on a much higher data package than you need. Perhaps consider reducing your Sky Mix (and therefore monthly bill) and adding some of that unused data from the Piggybank each month.

Unused data has essentially zero monetary value: it's not like a physical stock item.  Sky cannot count anything 'traded-in' as balancing the reduction in their profit margin on handset retail when they discount the hardware price: even the £10-off is a loss to them.

No of course not. But it's the marketing of "save data and put it towards a new phone upgrade!" ... £10 over a 2 year deal. Thats 1.3p a day. I can literally find that on the street.

Re: Sky piggyback exchange limit

Thanks for the reply. Yeah fair enough, I understand that. I was just annoyed about the whole marketing of it. It looks like the more you save the more you can get off, to then find out £10 max is a bit annoying but oh well. Not going to lose sleep over it.

To be fair the amount you can trade in has reduced over the years.  But if you are buying a phone from Sky and have excess data then it's better than nothing (just).

As noted above, building up a large piggybank indicates you could be a lower dataplan (and use the piggybank).  It now expires after a year...

Re: Sky piggyback exchange limit

Normally they increase the amount of data you can trade in and and amount you get off when new phones are released
