Sky false advertisement

Sky cancelled my order for a new mobile phone and contract because sky didn't have the handset available (false advertisement), they had all the same handsets available with higher amount of storage so they had 24 hours to offer me an upgraded handset for the same price. Nobody has got back to me at all. Sky continue to advertise the same phone and package on their website for last few days and they cannot sell it as they don't have the phone! Recorded full chat and will send to customer watchdog.

Is this what they told you ?

In our experience on here orders usually get cancelled if the user has failed the credit checks.

Re: Sky false advertisement

It is what they told me. My credit is solid, and I've been a sky mobile, Tv & broadband customer for 9 years at the same address! Credit is not the issue.

they informed me they had no handsets of that type, but they had bigger versions, then thus far have refused to just send an upgraded handset.
aka, an up selling tactic usually used in second hand car sales!

@Anonymous If the one you ordered is out of stock then that's unfortunate, Sky have no obligation to send you one with more storage for the same price as the lower spec one you ordered.

Re: Sky false advertisement

No, but they have an obligation to stop advertising phones that they do not have.

No they don't as orders will be fulfilled when phones are in stock if there is no stock at time of order

I agree with @caesarome there appears more to this than what you were originally told

@Anonymous While I agree they shouldn't advertise phones that are out of stock(or at least post a note stating this model/spec is currently out of stock), they can still do so unless there is no chance of stock being replenished.

@Anonymous

Stock levels of mobile devices will change on a daily, if not hourly, basis so Sky (and other providers for that matter) won't remove unstocked items from their website. If they did that the forum would be inundated with "why don't Sky sell the *** model?" type questions.

Why would they do that?   I thin k your expectations fall seriously short of reality.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
