Sky essentials plus mobile
Hello, we have just applied for sky essentials but there was no mention of a SIM card. I've just checked the website and it does still say the package comes with this. Can't seem to live chat to request.

Re: Sky essentials plus mobile
AIUI Essentials is a TV service only.
There are social tariffs were you can add a SIM.
Can you post a link to what you are reading?

Re: Sky essentials plus mobile
@Maskims
This link explains the process if you’re eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
The Sky account holder needs to be claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance or Income based Employment Support Allowance. These are the only qualifying benefits and in order for Sky to carry out checks with DWP they will need your NI number. The social tariff is for Sky Broadband Superfast 35 with an average download speed of 36Mb/s and the Sky Talk Pay As You Go tariff (ie: all calls are chargeable). It does not offer a discounted Sky Talk plan.
Broadband Basics is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband and to add the Sky Mobile offer, you’ll need to be taking Sky Broadband Basics, and:
a) Already have Sky Mobile and a 3GB data plan.
b) Or you can add a new 3GB data plan with Sky Mobile.
If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join. There is no equivalent offer for TV. The social tariff now lasts for 24 months and then reverts to the full cost but if you’re still eligible you will then need to re-apply.
Sky customer since 2001

Re: Sky essentials plus mobile
- Thank you, sorry I'm not very savvy with these forums. We have recently become eligible for UC and have phoned and applied for this social tariff. However there was no mention of the SIM card which I didn't know at the time was part of sky's offering. We have been sent a new cable for our modem, and a couple of emails. However our future bills haven't been changed yet. Today is our first day of the new contract but the phone doesn't seem to be working plugged into the modem as described in the paperwork. Have a real hard time getting through on the phone and would love the option to instant message if possible. Thanks all.

You can add a sim either via the Sky website here or by calling Sky:
https://www.sky.com/shop/mobile/plans
Billing doesn't start until your services have been activated.

Re: Sky essentials plus mobile
Morning, we phoned and asked for the SIM which has been received. We have had emails detailing new contract. Wires for the router which works (although the old wire also works still.) On the phone they said billing changes when our entitlement to U.C is checked, but the contract was supposed to start 2 weeks ago. Future bills all look the same. Please advise and so sorry if I've put this in the wrong forum!
