Sky VIP Offers - Unlimited Data
I've just seen the unlimted data offer for £10 a month for SKY VIP Diamond members.
Am I understanding the offer correctly - you dont need to take out an additonal SIM, but you do need to take out a new SIM plan?
So for me, with just one sim with Sky mobile that is out of contract, to get the offer on my current number, I would need to take out a new plan, port my number across, and close the old plan down?
Is that right, just seems like a very long winded way of doing it?

Yes, the offer is for additional SIMs (with a new phone number) only.
As you note, there is a workaround (port the existing number OUT of the network and back in again) if you want to keep your number as you cannot transfer numbers between SIMs.

Re: Sky VIP Offers - Unlimited Data
Thanks for the info on having to port the number to another provider first. So, for a single person, who will only ever require 1 sim card / plan for their household, as a current Sky Mobile customer to get the advertisied offer, I have to go to a competior network website - ee, o2, giffgaff, etc so I can order a sim to have my current number ported to, and then obviously while I am there I am going to get flooded with offers to stay and switch providers. Sky hopes I dont succumb to these offers and are happy to waste my time then porting the number back in.
Hey, I'm only in my forties but this has to be the oddest business model I have ever come across in my life.
Just weird!

Re: Sky VIP Offers - Unlimited Data
We don't disgree but the aim seems to be to increase the number of SIMs on accounts. The best deals are always for new customers / additional expenditure.
Try calling Sky see what they can apply to your current SIM instead. (But don't be surprised if they won't match the offer)

Re: Sky VIP Offers - Unlimited Data
Just seen on the giffgaff website - £15 a month unlimited data, calls, and texts. Think I'll join that. Seems so much simpler.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Sky VIP Offers - Unlimited Data
Yes, I took out this offer and found that it is impossible to apply your own Sky number without involving outside PACs etc. If I try to change my plan within the Sky environment, they only offer £29 for unlimited data. Why would I want two numbers? A bit of a con if you ask me!
