Scam or coincidence

I ordered a new phone from sky, (an upgraded) for my son. Account is in my name but sim named in my son's name.

The day it was delivered,  before he even set it up,  his dad got a message saying hi, it's (sons name) I've got a new number,  then asked to borrow £1500.

Obviously realised it was a scam but just concerned about it.

Is it a coincidence or did they get information from sky ?.

@Debbers

Coincidence as that is quite an old scam that has been around for many years, where they got the name from I wouldn't know.

@Debbers  It shoud be noited the number you ahev isn't a new number as it will be recycled number, there are very few "new" numbers available.

It's possible the previous owner who had this number was the intended victim.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
