Samsung A9 asking for PIN?

Sorry if this has come up before - couldn't find anything. I have a Samsung A9 tablet just out the box, bought from SKY about a year ago and never used. It's asking for a PIN and I have no idea what the PIN might be. I've tried the bvious 1111, 0000, 1234, 111111,000000,123456, but no luck. I believe it's possible to do a factory reset but that seems to need a previously set up Google account to get the tablet back to life again afterwards. Can anybody help? Very grateful for any suggestions. Thank you.

@Kripptical  If you set a personal pin on your device to unlock it before using no one will know what it is.

If it was new and out of the box it would go through the setup process 1st, or did you set it up a year ago & forget?

Re: Samsung A9 asking for PIN?

Many thanks for your reply GD1. I've not had the chance to set it up or do anything. As soon as it powers up it asks for a PIN and I can't get past that; no opportunity to do any kind of set up. It's a very pretty glass brick to all intents and purposes until I can get past the PIN screen.

@Kripptical  Maybe try these steps:  press the volume up, press and hold the volume up and also the power button together at the same time.  Phone should reboot and let you go through the setup process?
