SIM Activation error: 'There was an error sending your verification code'

I have logged into my Sky mobile account and see a green bar with 'Activate SIM - xxxxxx is available to activate', indicating that my new SIM for a new phone is available for activation.

When selecting to Activate SIM and entering the activation code found on the SIM packaging, selecting 'Yes, transfer my number', I receive the error 'There was an error sending your verification code' immediately after entering my mobile # and submitting.

The error displays briefly in red at the top of the page which is then refreshed, with no verification code being sent. The current mobile is with SKY (unlimited data plan / sim only), as is the new SIM (new monthly plan w/new phone). The correct/valid mobile number has been entered (repeatedly checked)

Has anyone had any experience with this type of error, or have any ideas as to resolution for this activation problem?

You can only transfer your number from a non-Sky network.

If you are trying (sounds like you are) to transfer a Sky number then you can't.  You don't need to activate any new SIM and simply move your existing SIM from old to new phone.

If you do activate a new dataplan (with a new phone number) then you'll have, and will pay for, 2 numbers/dataplans.

Hi @DS5  as mentioned you can't port from one sky sim to another. The only way to get your old number on your new sim is to port it with the PAC to a different network on PAYG then port it back to the new sim. Alternatively just use your old sim and cancel the new one if it's activated. If it's not activated the leave it and it will drop off your account.

As they are both unlimited plans then there's no difference.  (Although I'm guessing the new dataplan is cheaper than the current one)

As @63johnw notes there is a protracted workaround but requires porting numbers out and back in again.
