Roaming in Algeria

Hello, I am currently traveling in Algeria and my Sky Mobile SIM card is not working. I cannot receive calls or connect to any local mobile networks. I have already tried the following: Restarting my iPhone 13 Pro Max Manually selecting local networks (Mobilis, Djezzy, Ooredoo) Ensuring roaming is enabled in my phone settings I suspect that international roaming may not be activated on my Sky Mobile account. Could you please confirm whether roaming is enabled for my line, and if not, could you activate it? This is urgent as I need to receive important calls while abroad. There is no such setting - roaming is always available.

However, Algeria is a 'Rest of World' location which is very expensive - £4,320 per GB of data (yes, four thousand pounds), calls are £3.60 per MINUTE and to receive is £1.80 per minute.

The chances are you've burnt your cap already (which can be used in minutes).  You will probably need to review those settings, but be aware of the costs as above.

Also, you are talking to other customers and not Sky customer services.

@Miassa Roaming is active on all Sky sim accounts by default, unfortunately Sky(and other providers) can't guarantee that roaming will work in every country.

You may have to just keep trying to connect and hope that one networks sticks, it's worth noting though that Algeria is a "Rest of the World" destination and using your Sky sim there(if you manage to connect) will be very expensive,

Data is £4.32 per Mb(£4320 per GB)

Calls to UK mobiles/landlines £3.60 per minute.

To receive calls is £1.80 per minute.

Texts to UK mobiles are £0.79 per message.

Picture messages are £1.08 per message.

Calls to Algerian numbers are £3.50 per minute.

Texts to Algerian numbers are £0.95 per message.

Unfortunately there's widespread confusion between 'roaming' (as in a device will attach to a local network) and 'data roaming' (accessing a UK data bundle while abroad, typically for a small daily fee)

With a Sky Mobile SIM, £2 per day data roaming only applies in the EU/EEA plus the countries listed in bold below. 

The vast majority of global destinations are 'rest of world' rate and consequently extremely expensive.
