Hi,
I’ve been a loyal Sky customer for sometime, and overall, I’m very happy with your service. However, I, like many others, am growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of support for eSIM on the Apple Watch. As it stands, Sky is one of the only major UK networks that does not allow the Apple Watch to connect via cellular using eSIM technology, and I haven’t seen any solid updates or timelines regarding when this might change.
I understand that these changes require infrastructure updates, but the lack of any communication on this topic is becoming a major inconvenience. Many of us are left wondering: are we waiting months, years, or perhaps even indefinitely?
For those of us who invested in cellular versions of the Apple Watch, it’s frustrating to pay extra for a feature we cannot use because Sky hasn’t rolled out the necessary support. More so, with the market for smartwatches growing and customers leaning towards more flexible services, it seems Sky could risk losing users to providers like O2, EE, and Vodafone, all of which already support this feature.
Could Sky provide any clarity on the following points?
1. Is there a timeline for eSIM support for the Apple Watch?
2. If not, can Sky at least provide an expectation (e.g., within 6 months, next year, or longer)?
3. Why is this delay happening when Sky uses O2’s network, which already supports the Apple Watch eSIM?
4. Does Sky understand that this lack of support might cause customers to switch providers, especially for users who want to take full advantage of their Apple Watch?
It’s understandable that these things take time, but the lack of communication leaves us in the dark. Apple Watch users are increasingly looking for independence from their phones, especially for activities like running or going to the gym, where bringing a phone isn’t always practical. This ongoing delay seems out of step with the needs of today’s consumers.
I’m sure many Sky Mobile users would appreciate any update or reassurance you can offer. Thanks for considering this request, and I look forward to hearing some more concrete information.
Kind regards,

You have asked the question and we have told you there is no new update on this. If Sky make an announcement on esims for smart watches becoming available you'll hear it at the same time as everyone else.

Realistically that kind of high level business information and decisions taken at senior executive level aren't going to be announced in a customer forum.
