Problem with I message after number ported

I ported my number from EE yesterday the number is correct in my number. I cant send i messages its sending them from my email and the number just has the cog spinning around and says verifying. Ive tried re setting network settings switching off and on multiple times turning off imessages and facetime etc. When i try to untick the email and select the number it says activation error. Any ideas? Will this just correct itsself in a few days? My husbands was doing the same but his is fine this morning and he didnt try any of the fixes just left it to do its thing.

tried this it shows the number but wont let you select it as just has a cog going around saying verifying and wont let you select it

Have you tried a reboot of your phone ?

yes off and back on reset network settings and reset phone settings still not working.
